Chrome extension

Installing

SoundBooster is coming soon to the Chrome Web Store. Once it's live, you'll install it in one click from the extension page.

Boosting a tab

Open the tab that's playing sound and click the SoundBooster icon.
Press Boost this tab or pick a preset. Chrome shows a small capture indicator on the tab while it's boosted.
Drag the slider up to 600%, or use the − and + buttons for 25% steps.
Press Stop to return the tab to normal.

“This tab can't be boosted”

Chrome doesn't allow extensions to capture its own pages (chrome://, the New Tab page, settings) or the Chrome Web Store. Some streaming services play protected (DRM) audio that capture receives as silence; SoundBooster doesn't bypass that protection.

The sound is distorted

Turn the limiter on (Advanced controls) and lower the boost. Audio that's already loud clips quickly — boosting works best on quiet sources.

Shortcuts don't work

Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to check or change them. Another extension may be using the same keys. Shortcuts act on the tab in front; the first press starts boosting that tab.

Volume booster on the website

The Volume Booster page amplifies a file you choose, in the page itself. Websites can't change the volume of other tabs — that's what the extension is for.

AI mastering

Upload a mix, describe the sound you want and press Master My Track. When the AI interpreter is enabled, only your text and the current settings are sent to our server and Anthropic's Claude, which chooses settings; the audio itself is processed in your browser. Otherwise an on-device keyword interpreter is used and the page says so.

Use the A/B switch with Loudness-matched A/B on to judge tone rather than volume. Every render is kept as a revision — star the ones you like, delete the rest, and export WAV or MP3. Your original file is never changed.

Stem splitter

AI stem separation needs a server running a separation model. If the page says “Not connected”, this deployment doesn't have one. Self-hosters can run the Demucs-based server in services/stem-server and set NEXT_PUBLIC_STEM_API_URL. The vocal remover also has an on-device mode using phase cancellation, which works without a server on stereo mixes with centred vocals.

Studio

Drag audio files onto a track (or press Add audio), then drag clips to move them, drag their edges to trim, and the small circles at the top corners to fade. Shift-drag the ruler to set a loop. Sessions autosave. Keyboard: Space play/pause, S split, Delete remove, Ctrl+Z undo, L loop, M metronome, +/− zoom. The BPM, key & chords panel analyses the mix or a clip on your device; Lyrics lets you tap-sync lines while the song plays and export an .lrc file.

AI audio & visuals

Sound generation uses ElevenLabs; images and artist models use Replicate. Clean-up tools — noise removal, voice cleaner, enhance and restore — run on your device. Album-cover text is added on your device so it's always spelled correctly. Spotify Canvas loops are 3–8 seconds at 720 × 1280; Spotify requires MP4, which Chrome and Edge can record directly.

Music videos

Upload a song, describe the video and generate a storyboard (or write your own). Edit timings, prompts, camera moves and transitions, approve it, then generate each scene. The video is rendered on your device in real time, so keep the tab visible while exporting.

Is it free?

Yes — everything is free, with no plans, trials or payments. AI features that run on outside services (such as AI sound generation, AI images and AI stem separation) have a fair daily limit so everyone gets a turn; a free account gives you a larger monthly allowance. Only successful operations count toward it.

Files & formats

SoundBooster opens anything your browser can decode — typically WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG/Opus, M4A/AAC and WebM — up to 250 MB. Exports are WAV (16-bit dithered, 24-bit or 32-bit float) and MP3 (128–320 kbps). MP3 export needs 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz audio.

Accounts & data

You don't need an account. Without one, projects and presets are saved in your browser. With an account, they're saved to private storage only you can access. You can delete everything, or your whole account, from Account Settings.
