How do I boost volume above 100% in Chrome?
Install the free SoundBooster Chrome extension, open the quiet tab and pick a preset or drag the slider — up to 600%. There's a step-by-step guide too.
Does the volume booster distort at high levels?
No. SoundBooster uses a look-ahead limiter that lowers the volume smoothly just before peaks instead of clipping them, so even 600% stays clean. At 100% it doesn't change the sound at all.
Can I boost more than one tab at once?
Yes. Every tab has its own volume, EQ and settings, and you can switch off one tab without affecting the others.
Is SoundBooster free?
Yes, completely. There are no plans, trials or payments. AI features that run on outside services have a fair daily limit.
Can the website make other tabs louder?
No. Browsers don't let a web page control other tabs. The Chrome extension does that; the website's volume booster works on files you open in it.
Is it safe to boost to 600%?
It's safe for your computer, but not always for your ears. Keep the limiter on, raise the volume gradually, and be careful with headphones.
Does SoundBooster record or upload my audio?
The extension never records or uploads tab audio. On-device tools process files in your browser. Stem separation uploads your file to the separation server only when you press the button, and the page tells you before it does.
Which browsers are supported?
The extension needs Chrome 116 or newer (and other Chromium browsers that support Manifest V3 offscreen documents and tab capture). The website works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
Is the “AI” in AI Mastering real?
When enabled on the server, Anthropic's Claude reads your description and chooses mastering settings. The processing itself is a real DSP chain (EQ, compression, saturation, stereo width, loudness normalisation and a look-ahead limiter) running in your browser. If the AI interpreter isn't available, the page says it's using on-device keyword rules instead.
What file formats can I use?
Anything your browser can decode: usually WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG/Opus, M4A/AAC and WebM. Exports are WAV or MP3.
Will mastering overwrite my file?
Never. Exports are new files with a suffix like “(SoundBooster master r2)”. Your original is untouched.
Where are my projects saved?
In your browser if you're not signed in, or in private storage in your account if you are.
How do I delete my data?
Open Account Settings. You can delete all projects, clear preferences or delete your account. The extension's data can be cleared from its own settings page.
